Hi all, I am changing the front lower wishbone on the wifes fiesta, and I have hit a bit of a snag. I can't figure out what size bolt heads I'm dealing with! There are three bolts and one torx head to undo; my 15mm sockets just slip straight off the bolt with minimal torque, but I can't hammer a 14mm socket on even after wire-brushing the bolt heads. Are they 14.5mm or something weird? I'm using decent 6-point sockets.

Also, is it a T50 or T55 torx bit I need to buy to undo the pinch bolt for the balljoint? My set only goes up to T45 which is not big enough.

Any help much appreciated!

Hi,
If I remember correctly the pinch bolt is a TX55 with a 15mm nut on the other side.
The nut has probably been corroded reducing the size. A nut splitter might be your new friend.
New bolts ones are cheap enough.
You might have a fun time trying to remove the bolt from the hub though. They tend to stick.
