I would like to have the glass tinted in my range rover. What are the rules around road legal limits etc? Thanks

Windscreen must let through 75% of light
Front side windows must let through 70%
Anything rear of B pillar - as dark as you like.

Some cars have a light tint int he glass already, so applying a 30% tint film may take you into 'illegal' territory. Also, there was talk of outlawing all aftermarket window tint film.

Anything from the B post back can be as dark as you like.

Anything else can have nothing at all.

The law says the glass must transmit 70% of natural day light, and as factory glass already has some sort of tint, any film applied will drop it below this

Back windows and boot only is what it means.

And remember it will look like an aftermarket job - they all do, and you'll look like a drug dealer.

Keep it stock is my advice - people with dark tints can't see when reversing very well either from observation of near misses round my way.

Usually,
A pillar is the one between windscreen and front windows.
B Pillar is the one between front and rear side windows.
After that, definitions can get a little messy with different body styles, quarterlights etc

Basically, anything rear of the drivers ears is OK for tinting (think vans etc)

Disagree entirely. Many cars look much better with tints, but I agree it needs to be a quality job to look decent.

Have a look at this site:

With regards to the comments about reversing, they may be valid to those who cant' drive, but if you are a half-decent driver who is using your mirrors correctly (and possibly also assessing where you are about to reverse as you approach it) there shouldn't be a problem.
