Forester Heat Shield

Has anyone had problems with their exhaust heat shield rattling? Drives me bonkers. Specifically a Subaru Forester, mine keeps rattling even though it has been in the garage to have it sorted on many an occasion (common problem apparently), now thinking of removing it altogether, it's the section on the manifold before the CAT, does anyone have experience of doing this and what do you think the implications are ie melting the under tray. Any tips greatly appreciated.
