I've been looking at the TFL website and it looks like any unregistered cars will not be granted a 100% discount for the CC.

I'm looking to buy an LPG car and wondered if anyone had any more info

cheers

If I understand it correctly. When you get the car check the V5 for fuel type.
It's easy to change.
Send of with a certificate of installation whilst making a change to fuel type on V5.

Thanks Jem0911 - the thing im concerned about it whether any cars not registered as LPG (and the CC charge) will be exempt?

A quick google shows the vehicles that are pre approved.
Didn't realise there were restictions (sorry country bumpkin)
Oddly the list ranges from a Citroen 1.0 to a 4.7 Jeep.
Nothing normal about the list.
No factory jobs either?

Am thinking about buying a 2001 /2002 jeep 4.7. so do you reckon that will be exempt??

Is a bit of a random thing.

I converted my car in 2005, but back then, there was a thing called the 'Powershift' register.

This means that you had to have your car converted by an 'approved installer' who was subscribed to the Powershift register.

(As far as I know, this has all been disbanded now.)

Anyway Powershift registered installers were charging like twice as much for an install. IE my install was 1500 quid, as opposed to a registered fitter who was asking for over 3 grand.

As I was working nights in London with no charge payable, I didn't bother with a registered installer as you can imagine!

But this is the main thing to check if you want a CC exempt vehicle. The other route is a vehicle fitted with LPG from the factory. There are only a few cars AFAIK, like Volvo 'Bi Fuel' and some Vauxhalls.

HTH.
