I totally agree. It's nice to be nice.

I used to get agressive and wound up driving when I was younger, but now I just let people get on with it. It makes a miniscule difference to the time of my journey and I feel a lot calmer as a result.

Agreed. That said, the standard of driving today is dire. I've had 5 people almost drive into me today which raised my blood pressure a little, and seen a number of overtakes which could have gone badley wrong.

Ah well, roads should be clear tomorrow for a little spin driving

There do seem to be a lot of stressed people around today. I made a quick trip to newbury today and found myself having to battle my way through traffic queuing for the retail park to get to Tesco. There are a lot of angry people about, trying to block people from changing lanes and stopping other people getting onto roundabouts.

I thought that was boxing day behaviour!

Yesterday struggled up to see my mum as I haven't seen her the past week. On trying to pull out of a very snowed up junction onto a clear main road I get a blast on the horn by an approaching motorist.

Obviously he was pissed off at having to slow down for me but as my rear wheels on my 1 series BMW where sliding about on the compacted snow I couldn't get any more grip to move any faster.

The ironic part of it was that he himself was in a 1 series so should have appreciated why I didn't get right out of the junction as fast as he would have liked.

I've slowed and stopped several times to allow people time to manouevre their cars in this crappy weather. Obviously not everyone gives other drivers a moments thought.

Being a helpful guy I decided to help a beached 118d earlier today.

Another kind samaritan with a shovel pitched in and we got it over the hump of icy slush that had trapped it and onto the carriageway.

I wasn't expecting gushing praise and a flowering of rose petals back to my own car but a wave of thanks maybe?

No. The driver proceeded to rev his feeble dieseasel as far as possible, drop the clutch and shower me and helpful passerby#2 with the freezing gritty st we'd just dug & shoved him out of.

Merry Christmas to you too fella.

I couldn't have been less stressed today if I tried and just to make sure I avoided all the places that would be busy.

Did very little all morning at work, left at lunch time and took the long way home via the snow covered B roads. Put the roof down and went sideways at every chance. Got a few funny looks from all the people in 4x4's that looked like they were dressed to cross the Antarctic while I was in a car with no roof and not a hat, scarf or glove in site.

Got home with a massive grin, defrosted my ears and had a coffee. My sister then phoned to say her pressie had finally arrived (was getting worried it was lost) and sat down to watch some rubbish tele and browse the net looking to see what sales start today.

Take the side roads, play in the snow and avoid all the grumpy last minute shoppers. It's the way forward. smile

Sorry, but that just made me LOL - it works on so many levels.

Sorry to hear you got soaked, though.

(I had to get help with my 1er the other week, but I did profusely thank the young lad who gave me a hand).

There was no need for the guy to be so confrontational, he'll make Christmas miserable enough for himself and is determined to do the same for all around him with an attitude like that - just have a great Christmas break and forget about it, chap.

I wasn't so amused by it this morning but screw it life's too short to get precious about these things. If it can make someone smile then at least some good came out of the selfish prick's actions.

Probably karmic payback for my winter tyre on a 3er related smugness of late anyway smile

Perhaps he'll get only some festive socks for Christmas. Snow socks that is...... for his front wheels.
