Are you sure you mean Mk1? These came out very early 90's and you rarely ever see them now?

Yeah man 91-96 I think. You can pick them up quite cheap now, there not many around by you anymore then?

Ok, wasn't trying to be smart as I'm sure you know what you want! Just got me thinking that's all. Would your budget spread to a Mk2 - the more rounded shape?

Yeah it's a fair point actually. I've heard they're fairly reliable? My mum has one, it's been good so far (x reg)

When I was with my ex-wife we got her an S-plate Mk2 1.2 and I liked it. Nippy, cheap to run and I liked it. It was quite new when we got it and all we had done other than routine servicing was a PAS pump and recall on the accelerator cable. I also found the brake and accelerator were very close together and got on my tits a bit.

Learn how to fit a clutch cable. You will get through one every 12 months, unless its had the Renault mod. Otherwise, mine was generally reliable (8 years ago). Newer model better quality, apparently.

This is just £550 and its a Mk2 shape just to give you an idea. For that money I shouldnt worry too much as 2nd hand parts are very readily available

Ha ha this is the stuff I mean. Garage will be laughing, "the usual yeah?" if I don't learn how because they'll be doing it for me lol.

Yeah I think the newer ones look sturdy, there's tons of the mk2 ones (96/97 onwards)

My ex had a mk 1 a few years back, gorgeous purple with 1200cc's of purring power!

It had a sliding sunroof..avoid! When it rained the water would fill up the channels so that when the car turned or negotiated a roundabout water would piss onto the front occupants! rofl

I only drove it once, that was enough, kept me amused for ages seeing the ex/wife come home...wet! hehe

Did I mention she is now my ex? boxedin

Lanxx, why a Clio? Why not consider something else? Saxo, Corsa, 206 etc?

You're 17, and your mum has a Clio, so you need one?

Think outside the box mate.

Never driven one of these but my mate has one and the interior/steering wheel is dated to fk.

You're going to get done for insurance whatever you buy!

Nor would i call the 1500 i paid on a 1.8 Astra hideous, but insurance on a whole is going to suck ass at our age!

I've considered polo, 205, 309, 206, 106, corsa, fiesta, maybe a zx citroen?

I might just go with any, live and learn they say.
