Radio/CD Question
Discussion
Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a head unit which is smaller in depth than a standard unit? It’s all down to the lack of space behind the slot in the centre console (TVR V8S). I was wondering if you could get a head unit without a CD player but have some way of plugging in the i-Pod so it doesn’t need to be as long/deep a normal one. Don't want to spend too much as you can't hear it most of the time anyway!

I don't know about any shallower headunits, but if you don't mind some soldering it would be pretty easy to connect the front panel mounted in your dash with the rest of the headunit hidden somewhere out of sight (under the seat?)Buy a little amp for the boot, wire it to the speakers then run a head phone socket to phono lead into the cabin then run everything by the ipod.
You will need to run a switch into the cabin to turn the amp on and off to stop the battery going down.
That is a pretty lightweight way to do it as well as good for security as nothing to draw the eye in the cabin.
