Any ideas where to get hold of a decent one? Ive been lookin and they all seem to struggle to get any more than 2 stars on customer reviews. Im sick of waiting for my sty electic one, and it wakes the neighbours!!

Had a Halfords one for years, never let me down.

Or, get the puncture fixed so you don't keep waking the neighbours!!

My other half has one from hellfrauds

its a decent enough one, quite well made, but its a bother to use- i'm a bit of a feather weight, weighing in at 9 stone, and i have to stand on the thing and jump, to get it to pump, when the tyre is nearly at 30psi. By the time i've finished pumping up the tyre, i'm sweatier than a weight watchers attendee in a cake factory.

I'd rather use an elecy one and wake the neighbors!

Michelin twin barrel one out of Halfords.

Used one on my race car this year, works fine in my experience.

Halfords own brand ste on the other hand, avoid!

Maybe spend the money on getting your slow puncture fixed? hehe

I've got a Halfords one and it's been fine for occasional use for three years.

I've broken 3 in a row, including both Michelin and Halfrauds. All rubbish.

I'd stick to the electric one if I were you.

I've just bought a Draper one for about £12 and seems to do the job quickly and smoothly.

Ive got a sealey one, which has been fine for the last year. Foot pumps do tend to break rather too frequentley for my liking.

I've stuck with them though as I thought the electric ones would break sooner?

Some of the mountain bike plunger style pumps are surprisingly hight quality. They're designed to inflate to 100+psi so the seals are more durable than the foot ones.

Not the cheapest things though.

I've had a few over the last 30 years and all failed for one reason or another.
One day I intend getting a '50's or '60's one, preferably in brass, from an era when they made them properly instead of the plastic or Chinese we get today.

Found an old one at my grandmothers a few years back, all rusty and dirty. Have not had any problems with it so far, while other newer ones have broken.

If you can try for a Dunlop Major. These are made by Dunlop and are a hefty footpump where both barrels are, if I remember right. made of brass and are quite big, so inflate a tyre with little effort.
You should be able to source one from a local motor factors but expect to part with a largish sum of money.
You do get what you pay for though.

Bought a cheapy red clarke number from machine mart a few years ago. It felt a bit flimsy from the off but has lasted well and taken a lot of use and some abuse. Certainly worth its money.

I have various electric ones and most I have tried were noisy and broke fairly quickly. We use them to pump up footballs for my shop so they do get some heavy use. I bought one branded ring and is really good. It is made of metal and is very quiet . Used it for a year now without any problems

The Michelin foot pumps are pretty good. I've been very happy with mine, anyway.

For those looking for an electric pump, Sealey make a really decent one ( like this). Mine is about 6 or 7 years old and I haven't managed to destroy it yet. The secret is to find one with a 100% duty cycle so it won't overheat and seize like crap ones invariably do when you run them for more than 2 minutes.

Your lucky if they last 2 years......I've taken the last 3 back, after about 11 months use, to make use of Wilko's no quibble refund/replace policy. paperbag
But all the under a tenner pumps look like they are made in the same chinese factory by 6 year olds so on that basis the Wilkos one at under a fiver seems ok....especially as mine has in theroy lasted 3 years so far. wink

I have the Michelin one. It's pretty good - I was impressed with the quality. Or I was, until the rubber hose broke off and had to be reattached with glue and a hose clip. Still happy with it overall.
