My g/f's vw polo has a battery problem.

Jump-starts fine and then I can turn it off and on no problem. However, after taking the car for a spin and then trying to start it, it won't start again.

I'm thinking dodgy battery or alternator.

Any thoughts???

Stick a battery charger on it over night and then you'll know if the battery is knackered or not.

You'd need to take it for a fairly lengthy drive to charge the battery, especially if you've got lots of the electrics functioning. You could pop into a battery place and ask them to do a drop test on the battery for you.
