BMWs are fine in the snow if you know what you're doing. I was annoyed with mine when it first snowed because I was treating it like a FWD car (lack of experience).

Lower the tire pressures, put a bag or two of salt in the trunk, turn the DSC off, and feather the throttle. Job done.
