What is the best 4x4 up to £4000
Discussion
Just wondered what the best and most reliable 4wd is, up to about £4000 with proper difflocks etc.
My wife is thinking about selling her beloved 405 and buying some form of 4x4 but something better than our CRV (with winter tyres)
Reliability is the biggest headache. She used to have a Landrover which was brilliant offroad but cost an absolute fortune to run.
I'm thinking Subaru Forester / Toyota Hilux perhaps. Is a Landrover discovery any more reliable?
Any other suggestions welcome. Looking for something reasonably big but not massive if you know what I mean.
Thanks

just picked up a tidy forester, non turbo 2003 with fsh for about £4k. Too early to tell how reliable it will be yet, but its comfortable and more car like than the cherokee we have too.
Which leads me to my other suggestion, you should be able to get a pretty nice KJ cherokee for £4k
They are about the same size inside, both pretty capable off road, and fine on it
