Please!

Could someone tell me what the pavements are like? Not the roads, the pavements...

My wife has a hospital appointment at UCH (Warren St. tube); the tubes seem to be running OK, I can get her to the station at this end. But, she has a damaged hip, and can't walk safely on packed snow/ice, so we are not sure how she'll manage if the pavements are as icy as they are here in North London.

Ta very much...

Pretty icy around Bank and Cannon St and they are some of the most used pavements in the city i'd imagine! I would think it would be the same up by Warren St.

Its a bit of a mixture. Main routes are fairly clear, but there are icy patches. Side streets have some packed ice/snow.

Wearing my silly work shoes (no grip) I was fine (just avoiding worst bits), although I did feel them slipping a bit.

Thanks again. I think it sounds as if it is too much risk for her.

Dare I say it - cab? Even a short run, a black cab would take her right to the covered entrance for about £3-4 from that tube.

Hi mate, I passed the UCH this morning. They've done a good jobs on the pavements round it, grit is down, but that's on top of snow and ice. Generally speaking a least half the pavement width fine to walk on for an able bodied person.... But, bearing your wifes hip in mind, it take a cab personally. Roads are gritted, clear and traffic is flowing freely.

Hope that helps.

I really do appreciate this, everyone.

Madame has decided not to risk it - even with a cab, as just crossing an icy pavement is a risk, and it isn't an urgent appointment. Re-scheduled for the New Year.

Happy Christmas and New Year, all!
