Not a good day to be driving around London...

Public transport don't look to be much better http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/...
Was gonna drive to spitalfields to repair some lights, decided not to bother.
Just driving the O/H 5 mins to the tube was a challenge... hope the northern line doesn't pack up! Surely they have to try to keep it running or they'll have thousands of people trying to drive to pick up stranded relatives?

Morden's not been the best place to drive around. I've spent the early afternoon helping people get unstuck and giving lifts where the buses aren't going etc. It's nice to revive some community spirit (especially when you've got 4 rather attractive girls offering you their numbers after giving them a lift).
On an unrelated note OP, are you nellyandsarah1 on YT?

Bought a sled a few days ago in the hope that by owning one, the snow would never come. Oh well!
Took the kids to Richmond Park this morning and traffic was light yet none of the main roads had been gritted, even the A3 Kingston by Pass.
Surprisingly Richmond Park was not closed to traffic so we parked up and went sledding. Hardly anyone around and white out conditions, seemed unbelievable that we were 10 miles from Central London. Got back to the car and drove on the deserted road to Roehampton Gate to find that they had indeed closed the road to traffic hence us being the only ones there.
Then nightmare, it's the last Saturday before Christmas and every bu66er with a car is out on the still un-gritted roads, even the South Circular. Traffic at a standstill so took the back roads but people you need a little forward momentum. t
ts driving at baby crawl speed and getting stuck on gentle slopes.
Finally get to the steep hill down to Southfields tube that I presumed would be gritted and my big mistake as even low gear and gentle use of brakes and handbrake and the car is just sliding down the hill and concerned about the parked cars and the traffic coming up I turn/slide right to attempt to go back up hill and find a safer way down.
Was stuck for a bit until I turned off traction control and gunned it as the softly softly approach was not working and the kids were getting hungry. Went up slightly sideways but got to the top and had to join the Christmas traffic all the way down and round to Wimbledon for a safe route down the hill.
Blimey! even Wimbledon Hill was not gritted so a bit slippy and this is now 1pm with tons of traffic around.
Anyway, who says BMWs are s
te in the snow.(Well maybe down hills)

On my way to Richmond around mid-day the fastest things on the roads were push bikes.
There was some poor sod on a courier motorbike who looked like he definitely would have liked to be at home in front of a fire and a guy on skis who I am sure felt really smug.
I should imagine Richmond Hill was great entertainment.

.....I live in Ealing and the snow was and is prettty thick here but I decided to work last night and had my best night ever. The roads in Central London were pretty empty of traffic and only a few side roads were a bit iffy, the worst being behind Ken High Street which were absolutely sheet ice but I still managed to negotiate them without too much of a problem.
