I've just been watching the BBC news channel. Their reporter was on a bridge over the M6 in Lancashire. Nearly every car, truck, and van passing under the bridge, had a foot of snow falling off their roofs onto the road, causing the fknut behind to swerve around, which in turn sprays more snow all over the road. WTF is wrong with these fking idiots? rolleyes

Isn't it 3 points and £60 fine if caught with a daft amount of snow piled on the roof?

I've been driving behind people who only cleared a tiny section of their front screen and everything is covered.

Funnily enough I quite like seeing snow come off my car when I brake at the traffic lights.

I know of someone who can reach over the roof of his VW Polo and scrape the window on the other side since fitting air ride.

I heard that recently too, was a chain email so I took it with a pinch of salt.

I always clear the snow off the whole car, with with the screen scraper or a small dustpan brush.

Does this class as a snowy roof:-

I was in my pub which is literally 100 yds from my house for 1 hour, drove home, and this was the result (Rangie)

Most cars I've seen this morning have been like this. The worst offenders had a port hole in the windscreen and drivers side window!

Porthole windscreen drivers are Driving a Dangerous Vehicle by reduced visability MS60 or possible CU20. If however the porthole view is having an effect to the point where the driver is not displaying the standard of driving expected of an experienced/competent driver then it could be Driving without Due Care and Attention CD10 six points and up to a £1,000 fine.

Snow on the roof, bonnet etc drivers (where they are causing significant threat to other road users) are Causing or likely to cause danger by reason of load or passengers CU50 3-9 points and a £60 fine.

Both offences could be considered Driving without Reasonable Consideration of others CD20 3-9 points and up to a £1,000 fine or if the standard of driving is also bad enough to warrant it CD30 Driving without Due Care and Attention without Reasonable Consideration of others 3-9 point and no limit to the fine.

Wouldn't they also be guilty of not displaying a tax disk, if you can't see it cos of all the snow?

Don't give them any more ideas. Failure to display up to six points for that as well, but for being numbty and not clearing the windscreen would be a bit harsh. Having said that in Norfolk they'd probably try it. wink

Can't say it's ever bothered me. I quite like the shapes that the wind carves onto the snow on the bonnet and roof. I also get excited when I see snow flying off cars. paperbag
