I need something for no more than £850 to complement the E36 Touring (as the O/H tends to nick off in that); quite sporty, practicality not a necessity, but less-than-horrific reliability and realistic running costs.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking along the predictable lines of MR2 or MX-5, but any left-field suggestion would be appreciated... smile

I like the idea of a 360GLT, curiously...

And no, Petrolhead Rich - not stuck for SOTW, stuck for SOMD (shed on my driveway) wink.

I ran a Prelude 5th gen over the summer as an alternative to a longer term rental when I was back in the UK. Not only was it reliable, reasonably quick and comfortable I also sold it for what I'd paid when I finished with it. They aren't short of toys either having a/c, cruise and sunroof as standard. The 4WS gives them a character of their own, all in all, a massively underrated car IMO.

So do the drift crowd. Bike carbs and a welded diff and you have a lot of fun for the cost of a few big nights out.

Pug 205. 1.6 or 1.9 readily available at your price. O/H will not like it and will thus always be there for you. Cheap to run, simple & cheap to maintain.

Ensure rear beam has been rebuilt, no torque steer whatsoever is present & that the shell is rust free in the usual places.

Old school delights await.
