Possibly 'clocked'? There was a big thread on here recently about it. My current rule is, if something seems 'iffy' then give it a miss, there are loads of other potential cars out there.

Try looking up the previous owner on facebook and having a chat ?

Which dealer is selling?, I'm local and know a few dodgy ones. There was one recently keen to find bodyshop workers...

Edit - dont see this car on Autotrader..

Could be clocked even though it's been Honda approved and an ex Honda car? They guarantee that it hasn't according to their warranty.

By the way - 21 black Civics £5k-£10k within a 30 mile radius......if you are not happy, look at another.

She likes this one and it's a nice car. The service could come back ok tomorrow. Just thought I might get lucky on here and someone knows the car. Fingers crossed!

Would you use top if the line model civic for a hire car? A black car too? What company would do that?

You might want to edit your post - the previous owners name isn't public domain information....

Really? Is that a problem? Even though it's in the Log Book? Let me know if that's right and I will change it. The name helps me potentially find the history though.

Just because it says Honda on the Log book doesn't mean it was run by a Honda person. Its popular for manafacturers to register cars to themselves and lease them to 3rd parties for Rental, Lease or some form of long term hire. Theres nothing wrong with Ex rental as the returns policy from the manufacturer tends to be very strict.

Like others have said, if you have any doubts walk away. Theres plenty more fish in the sea.

It was the sales person that told me it was registered by Honda and that an employees family member was the driver of the car.

Came back to be all lies. Car had ben in a smash and they tried to pass it off as Honda Approved. Also had missed it's first service. Not impressed.

That's pretty shocking from a main dealer TBH.
I think contacting Honda UK and making them aware of the situation may prevent some less diligent customer getting sold a heap.
Was this the long established Honda dealer who have recently lost the franchise or the new franchise holder?

The new one. The bonnet, front bar, grill and both front guards have been fixed. Missed it's first service (was 2 years old when it got done) but the said they would give warranty anyway. The new paint was terrible. Once it was all cleaned up and the snow taken off the paint had imperfections everywhere.
