I quite fancy a DAB headunit for the car, and something that will play MP3 and handle USB. The OE Ford 6000CD is frankly pants and struggles with just about everything.

I've seen a Philips CEM 3000B in Halfords which looks decent enough, and I was wondering if anyone has used one of these? It's a Halford's exclusive, and seems a cheap way of going DAB. JVC seem to be the only other guys doing DAB headunits, and after bad luck with other JVC stuff, I'm not interested in getting one of those.

Any thoughts appreciated. smile

Have no experience of it but that DAB radio does not say it is DAB+ compatible meaning its only useful until the UK switches over like the rest of Europe.

Really? You do know FM is being turned off in 2015, right? You do know DAB is the replacement, don't you?

I think you don't know what you're talking about.

A: That's 4 years away

B: DAB stuff often has crap reception

C: FM won't be switched off in 2015. If this isn't another govt project which gets delayed I'll eat a fking 8 track.

Halfords gets a lot of flak but I found the compatibility guide on their site very useful. I too am considering one of these and had no idea if it would fit my 9 yr old Boxster. Turns out it will, so thank you Halfords! smile

Its delayed for good reason, DAB uptake is way behind schedule (5m sold) and they can't turn FM off until enough people have receivers. It would help if the UK started backing DAB+ but I don't think the BBC want to tell a lot of people their DAB radio will be obsolete soon.

It sounds like a right mess then! Plenty of people who thought they'd done the right thing by buying into DAB are going to feel a tad angry!

I'd never heard of DAB+ until tonight, and it's obvious I'm not the only one...frown
