ways to prevent ice on windscreen overnight
Discussion
Where getting to that cold time of year where the windscreen ices over overnight.
As i work some nightshifts and finish at 7am or set off at 6am for dayshift i need to get away quickly to avoid rush hour traffic.
Whats the best method to prevent this. I have the night before de icer from halfrauds but that only works to an extent

Get a Caterham without a windscreen.
Um, a cover of some kind over the screen will help a bit, and a 12v ceramic heater will help you defrost the thing faster. Personally though, if I was doing that kind of job, I'd get a car with a windscreen demister thing.

Urine.
Pee a few times a day in to a bucket - just enough to wet the windows. Before night, pour that bucket of wee on to the windscreen - the next morning, presto, no frost.

The following only works if;
A) Your car is a hatchback
B) You have a garage with a socket
OK, this is what I do.
The daily snotter is backed up to the garage, leaving enough room for access. An extention cable is ran to just inside the garage door, then a small fan heater is connected to said extension via a remote control socket (available at B+Q, Homebase etc).
The heater is then placed on the rear parcel shelf the night before, and the boot shut over the cable (quite possible on a MK4 Fiesta
) and garage locked.
Next morning, when I get up, I use the remote to switch on the fan heater, and have my breakfast/shower etc.
Open the boot, open the garage door, and stick the heater back in the garage, making sure its switched off.
Quicker and certainly more pleasant than scraping ice off the car!
