Put either a miltons tablet or a tiny dribble of jeyes fluid in the screenwash bottle.

And next time make the screenwash up to a stronger solution with the concentrated stuff.

Ok, it was Leigionaires (sp) disease from using water, not screenwash:

Possibly the valeters were miffed at you returning the car and put some salmon behind the heater matrix?

Why would you complain it smells of screenwash. If you saw how much screenwash most garages put in the car for the amount of pay, you'd realise that if it smells of screenwash, you got a good deal.

Such things are not unheard of;

Some considerable time ago, as a postgrad student, i had a tedious disagreement with some anuses in a shared house. On departing, i concealed a small number of kippers between the lagging and the hot water cylinder.

The screenwash bottle needs to be taken out and washed out with boiling water every now and then to stop it going manky and breeding slime. One of the particular idiocies of modern car design is they tend to make it so it is not possible to do this without the use of an angle grinder. Which is bloody stupid. What was wrong with just having it in a clip so you could lift it straight out like they always used to be?

Run it all out and fill it with some nice wiffy screenwash. Simple.

mine also started smelling like this a few weeks back.

I've had the car over 6 years and its always had a decent amount of screenwash in the bottle and used regularly. Never been pongy before and then all of a sudden I was nearly sick when I used the washers.

I quickly ran the bottle empty and then filled up with undiluted screenwash.

The smell is now gone but I was baffled why it would suddenly appear now?

I had/have this problem too. I seem to have tracked my issue down to either/or cheap washer fluid, from the supermarket and the hot weather we've been having. Mostly though, I beleive it to be the own brand washer fluid.

Some decent stuff from any motorfactors mixed to a strong solution seems to help

If you do this, use a syphon. DON'T just run the pump continuously as it may burn out the motor/pump.
