Mcallister pressure washers
Discussion
We bought one about 2 years ago for around £200, meaty thing about 1900w, it has had very light use but has now decided it will poor loads of water from the handle rather than at high pressure from the lance.
B&Q don't sell that part and I can't seem to find anywhere on-line that does.
Seems rather wasteful to just bin the entire thing for the sake of a leaking handle.
Has anyone else had this same issue?
I found quite a few reviews online saying owners had the same issue.
And if so, where did you find a new lance and handle to fit?
Reading online, Mcallister have their own size of fittings. I was going to buy a Karcher handle and lance but that of course won't work if they are different.
Any ideas much appreciated.

Try www.chamjet.com , if they don't do it chuck it in the bin and don't buy a stores own brand machine in the future.

I'm not so sure they are a stores own brand, certainly wasn't cheap at £200.
I took it apart and it needed a new lance really, very poor design IMHO - all push fit internally with nylon parts and o-rings. Had a look at the karcher and the fittings are different.
It's now in the bin
Expensive ones clearly last no longer than a £50 jobbie so that's what I'll be buying next time, in fact the last £50 jobbie lasted around 5 or 6 years.
Thanks for the advice all.

McAllister is a B & Q brand name. The machines are made in China and parts were impossible to buy as when B & Q stopped stocking the machines they stopped buying parts hence "encouraging" customers to buy new machines.
Only place I know you can get parts is Chamjet Ltd or Sparesgiant (which I believe are one and the same company). They have a manufacturer in China who makes parts just for them. You may have to wait a while as they see to be inundated with requests and are often out of stock.

Trust me, it is (or was before it was discontinued) B&Qs own brand
Hrm. I think that might not be 100% correct - there is a chainsaw manufacturer with a very similar name (MacAllister?) which has lots of non-UK references, including a Thomas Harris book (he of "Silence of the Lambs" fame).Edited by Lanby on Sunday 30th May 19:13
I've no doubt you think you're right, but be aware that there may be other (non-UK) entities that use a similar name.
I'm not all that great at noting random names- but for me it's not random ...

I bought a Nilfisk washer recently, after reading recommendations in PH, and so far its been spot on. Cheap n cheerful but works well imo. Argos sell it so I ordered online and collected it later that day at my leisure.
I got this one but it was on offer for about £65 at the time..
