Who's got the oldest car that's never failed an MoT?

Just a thought seeing some of the MOT threads - who's got the oldest car that's never failed an MOT test? And what's the secret of success?

Best I've seen is 10 years but there must be some really old and reliable ones out there!

i had an 11 year old rover vitesse fastback that flew through with flying colours,then a week later the offside suspension failed and the wheel fell off! thankfully only doing 20mph,so much for mot's!

1991 never failed one yet
1985 - failed for the first time last year - caliper union leaking fluid and emmisions

Possibly cheating, but I don't think my 1918 LaFrance has ever failed an MOT.

Cheating as it started life in America (so no MOT), and since the early 1990's I don't think it's ever failed an MOT. Though it doesn't have one every year, and does occasionally spend a few years in a garage.

I had a 14 year old Renault Laguna that never failed once

1994 Renault 19 Convertible, has never failed
I find it quite impressive for a french car, then again it gets garaged every winter

Perhaps I am being awkward but why would you let your car get in such a condition as to fail?

Quite the opposite my 2004 car fails most years....

My '98 Civic VTI has never failed a MOT.

Agreed on stuff like tyres and lights, but over a certain age/mileage stuff like suspension bushes deteriorate.
You might not even notice any difference in the handling but then the tester puts it on that thing that shakes the car via the front wheel, and they move too much and it fails.
Then you replace them and it passes and you still can't see any difference in the handling and wonder what the point was

'91 E30 325 with 140+k on the clock; didn't even fail on a bulb

Let's hope it's replacement, a Boxster, will be as solid!

My BMW from 1995 has never failed an MOT, but it is serviced before every one and is a pretty pampered car. My 1997 Lexus likewise re servicing but sits outside and is a daily car. No failures, no warnings!

My 1973 Scimitar has never failed one. My 2001 SAAB once had to have an indicator bulb replaced as it was no longer sufficiently orange; it's not that challenging to maintain a car in a roadworthy condition, is it?.

My E30 M3 is 20 years old this year and not failed an MOT yet.

My Astra van has never failed & that is 10 years old.

My 1960 Land Rover has never failed in the 6 years that I have owned it.

My TVR T350 has never failed its MOT and its 5 years old. TVR MOT years are like dog years so that must count for something

A very fine effort! But we still have some way to go. The MOT test was introduced in 1960 so we need to keep on seaching the archives!

I am off this week to look at a swb Land Rover Mk1 which has never failed an MOT, but has not been driven for the last three years and is sitting in a shed n Dorset. The question is can I get it MOT'd to drive it or do I need to get it onto a trailer?

You could ask the seller to mot it for you, or book an mot close to where you live & drive it straight there. Personally though if it was me picking up a vehicle of that age that had not been driven for 3 years I would trailer it anyway, regardless of mot.
