Its a 2000 Suzuki grand vitara and its bloody annoying. Its coming from the front somewhere but I cant nail it down. One of the rattles is a caged bird, the other is a more ominous cluncky noise Is there an experts way of sorting this out short of dismantling the dash?

Trade it in for something that makes all the right noises under the bonnet.

so there's no helpful tips out there then...? Just an army of bitter & twisted hair dressers who cant appreciate a real mans car when they see one.

I suppose you do have to have a sense of humour

"Caged bird" type noise, is it the internal fan squealing? Load clunking noise on the move? 4x4 drive to front wheels, transfer box?
Wild guesses I know but without a little bit more detail v difficult to diagnose from 3000miles away and x time zones.

Is there a shopping trolley tangled up in your bull bar? If you're also having trouble driving in a straight line this could well be the problem. If you do find a trolley use the £1 coin to buy a lottery ticket. You may win the jackpot and be able to buy a proper car.

Let me see, you live in the land of big cars and even bigger bellies and you drive a Suzuki Grand Vitara.
ARE YOU MAD MAN , CRIST YOU SHOULD BE DRIVING ONE OF THOSE GASS GUZELERS

Well im not suprised at the responce you have here, if you think there is some thing wrong with it, take it to a garage and get it looked at

There comes a time in every mans life when he has to take a long hard look at where he has got to. He has to ask himself whether he took any wrong turns, whether he has really become all he can be.

It would appear that driving a grand vitara with/without bull bars, with a caged bird in the glove compartment may consitute a wrong turn. True I have known what it is to sit in a TVR, a porsche, and even a Mazda 323 with a CD player and aircon. I did not take from these experiences that i should actually buy something like that, but maybe that was a wrong turn.

I will go to that garage to get the noise fixed. And I will plan for that day when I can correct my past mistakes.

Thank you everyone for making me a better person, and more true to my chromosomal heritage

Why is it shopping trollies are magnetically attracted to water I was out walking the dog sunday morning on some marshes atleast 5 miles from the nearest house and 12-15 from the nearest Tesco's and yet there were 3 of the bloody thing lounging around in the mud of the river !! Now these bloody thing don't float and no buggers pushed their pies all that way so just how the fluck did they get there??? My only possible explanation is that the owners of Grand Vitaras got in the wrong "vehicle" in the carpark and didn't notice when they went "off road" and got stuck !!! I mean these things were bloody miles out, just how thats what I want to know ?? Does anybody know if it's tesco's that have got the phone line you can ring and get them to pick the things up? It would be worth it just to watch the spotty faced unemployable geek with the day glo jacket buried up to his squigy play dow chin in mud trying to rescue the wayward sludge cage.

Sorry needed that on a monday morning

actually, I think its owners of impractical sports cars who cant fit more than a bag of frozen peas in their "boot". They load up the trolley and push it home - looking for a suitable scuttling area on the way.

I've often wondered if the wheel wobbling that most shopping trolleys exhibit at walking speed would be reduced if they were going faster, bit like tyre inbalance only shows itself between say 60-70mph.

Anyone volunteer to strap one of Tesco's finest to the back of a Tuscan S? If it worked, lazy oiks like me wouldn't even have to unload the trolley!

Sorry what was the topic again?

In my youth I had an after-school job working at the local branch of Tesco, and the local council one day decided to pluck all the shopping trolleys out of the harbour and local lake. As most junior staff member that evening it was my task to reclaim all of the Tesco trolleys from the harbourside. Many of them had been down there years, and were covered with barnacles, seaweed, mud etc. They weren't rusty but none of the wheels worked so they literally had to be dragged back to the store. Not Nice.
