A couple of years ago I cancelled a classic car policy with Firebond after selling my car. I was expecting to get a refund for the remaining few months cover but I subsequently found out that the insurer "Drake" had gone bust. I filled in several forms from the administrators but heard nothing. I am disappointed with Firebonds lack of interest in their customers. Has anybody out there managed to get a refund from them? Should I take legal advice or write it off and not insure with them again?

I was with Drake insurance, through Lancaster, for my Manta's classic policy, when they went bust.
I was paying Direct Debit, but they honoured the Direct debit amount and transferred me to another Insurance policy at no charge.

Funnily enough I tried to get a quote on a Chimaera a couple of days ago through Firebond.
£2600 fully comp!!
Cheapest online quote so far Tescos at £992.

If your premium was paid to Firebond then your contract is with Firebond not Drake.

However, if you only had less than 3 months left anyway you would probably not get anything as they pro-rata the refund and subtract their commission!
