Do you mean polish or wax?
Can . Worms. All over the place !Waxes on the other hand are applied after this process to protect the clear coat from becoming scratched.
Some products combine both so you just apply one product to remove scratches and protect the clear coat.
I can't see anything controversial in the above?

Whats the difference between wax and polish?
Wax makes the car shiny by putting a film of stuff over the paint. Polish removes scratches by taking a thin layer of paint off the top. T-cut is a polish, albeit a fairly aggressive one.

I put some Dodo Juice on my 11 year old car recently, it hasn't been waxed for over a year and barely washed in the same time and spent the last 4 months parked under a tree so covered in sap but it looks absolutely stunning now.
Gave it a good scrub with the lime prime cleanser thingy then after the wax it looked incredibly shiny and beads the rain off beautifully.

How many times can you polish a car before you start doing noticeable damage to the paintwork?
