How can I legally find an address from a number plate

Hi folks, I need some help, I desperately need to track a guy down but only have his number plate. Can anyone tell me how I can find his address from the plate number? Thanks in advance

There is no legal way of doing it unless the vehicle in question has hit yours or caused other property damage, in which case DVLA may take pity on you. Or you could lie like a cheap watch, but how would you sleep at night?

To be honest the guy has taken a rather large sum of money off me for some plumbing work but has failed to finish the job. I dont have his address details as his work was subcontracted to him by my builder.

I need to serve legal papers to recover my money.

Also we will be serving legal papers to the builders as they are refusing to give me his address as well.

If your builder subcontracted the work, then can't you only serve the County Court papers to the builder?

Who did the quote come from, and who did you pay?

I could be wrong, but by saying it's a car that's been illegally parked on your property can get results from the DVLA. Worth a try.

No we didn’t, he will be owed the final payment when the commissioning of our heating system is completed. But he was not able to do this at the time as some final building work was not finished.
He has promised on a number of occasions over the last six weeks to come back and finish it but an excuse always comes up.

Previously I had asked him to also quote for my bathroom refub but his quote was over the top so I went with someone else. Anyway he promised to turn up today, which he did. But as he was walking onto my drive he saw my new plumber and the remains of my bathroom on the drive, he then promptly turned around, got back in his van and drove off. I watched him from my office window. I thought he had forgotten something in his van, to say I was angry, well its not often I lose my rag but today I was pushed over the edge.

I have now had enough therefore I am going legal

No I gave to the guy who best understood what I wanted, had very good refs and who seemed the most trustworthy (although that is a very subjective thing) Also he was not the cheapest, just cheaper

I feel your pain I was the victim of a Rogue Plumber who cleared off leaving me with a half finished bathroom and endless promises to return. His references were clearly faked. The many problems that have come to light since I have had to have fixed. All I have is his car registration and I would love to drag his stty arse through the Courts as I have emails and texts from him promising to return to finish the work (that was 18 months ago)
