Drivel - yet again...
Discussion
Well, I watched the first half of "Drivel" and nothings changed.
They still have a really shoddy way of going about presenting and giving bad advice - just that they had an hour to do so tonight.
Penny in the Volvo P1800: "They jump out of gear when the gearbox oil is low" No Penny, they jump out of gear after many miles with no oil in the gearbox and the 'box needs replacing because you should have checked the oil level! - should you not be mentioning about regular maintenance of the car?
Accident avoidence systems? - Should we really be advertising them? especially when Penny then went on to say "The biggest cause of accidents is due to driver error" They should be promoting driver education.
"The BMW X5 has set the standard" - What standard?, of all 4WD cars that are useless driving over damp grass, let alone acctually going off-road?!
The programe is rubbish - always has been. They slagged off the Clio 172 in a group test of hot hatches a while back because it had "too much torque steer" but failed to explain why - It was FWD and had the most powerfull engine!!!!
The programe is presented by monkeys and never seems to get it right. They don't seem to aim the format at anyone who actually has a clue about what really goes on.
And I mailed the editor of Drivel to tell him a few weeks ago.
And I just tried to voice my opinion on the C4 website, but as the performance on their server is as bad as the Driven presenters - it wouldnt let me!!
Rant Over - chill.....

Far be it from me to question your wisdom Dave, but is it not also the case that in vehicles that old, driving with a hand on the gearshift wears the fork and results in the detent not fully engaging so the effect is jumping out of gear, just a thought Ill sod off now
The *best* bit was the dog sled "Driveldubbletest" thing between Plato and Brewer.
So Plato gets the high performance dogs and completes a lap of the speshully marked out Drivel course. THEN Brewer's up with his slightly slower dogs but a "Lotus designed" and better handling sled...that catches him out and he careers into a tree as they go around one of the off-camber icy corners and the dogs don't give a sh*t and keep going... HIL-BLOODY-LARIOUS!
"OW..I've hit a tree" we heard Brewer saying.
Best bit :-)
All in -30 degrees C!
