No Claims Bonus and 2nd car
Discussion
anyone know how this works.
when I have my chimp the broker (a1) told me I could use the no claims from my other car on the chimp as well (I didnt think this was right but greed got the better of me). I now have my BMW insured with Eagle Star and the Cerbera with Privilge - I am trying to get proof of no claims from ES before Priv put my premium up (cos I havent sent through the proof). They arent being very forthcoming. Can I have the same no claims on 2 cars?!?! I never know whether the no claims is for the driver or the car! Gary

The NCB is linked to the car, not the driver. If as in your case you were offered 'free' NCB when you insured a second car thats fine and a decision for the broker / ins co.
When I insured my first TVR with A1 they gave me 5 yrs NCB on the basis of five claim free years with my company car (even though I still ran it as my main car). When I opted out and bought a BMW for work use A1 gave me 5 yrs NCB on that too as I had it already on the TVR.
The renewal notice for each policy stated 6 years NCB at renewal time, so you should be ok.
Cheers,
JSG.

Went through all of this a while back on another topic somewhere.
Most insurers will only allow you to use your no-claims bonus on one car. I spent ages phoning around as I'd just bought a runaround car to give the Tvr a bit of a break. Ended up with A Mannings. They insured my TVR with Cornhill, full protected no-claims limited mileage and my Omega with Norwich Union, introductory no-claims and discount. Whilst I don't think they mirrored the no-claims the limited mileage on the TVR and the introductory no-claims on the Omega made up for it.
