F1 TV Coverage - digital dilema?
Discussion
For those of you with digital sky tv in the UK - we now seem to have a choice of F1 coverage - "live" ITV with adverts flexibly timed to interfere exactly with the only lead change / pitstop cockup of the race ... or pay per view - prices tba - with Sky supplying the Ecclestone digital feed - no adverts but a hole in the bank balance... - which is it going to be?

I do have Sky (and pay extra to have some of the sport channels) though perversely I've been watching TV so little recently that I hadn't any idea about their F1 coverage.
What Channel is this on, and what are they charging? I might check it out - Murray's gone from ITV so why not?

Announced last week Digga, Sky and Ecclestone patting themselves on their backs - not sure what ITV make of it - there have been soothing noises directed toward them from the powers that be that their "free" feed will remain untouched.
Ecclestone has had his digital tv coverage working for a couple of years - rows of precision parked Mercedes hgv's at each grand prix having brought the hardware - but the feed had only been available at the circuit and in some European countries.
It is going to air on Sky as a pay per view event - same as a big boxing match, box office movie etc - I haven't heard what cost yet - the tempter is that there will be no adverts to interupt things, multiple feeds (choice of in car shots etc) and complete coverage of the weekend.
I guess a lot of people will try it once depending on the cost - and return depending on the quality - the non advert approach really appeals to me though as I'm sure that ITV increased the number and frequency of adverts last year - had me pacing round the room muttering under my breath more than a couple of times

You're right about the frequency of the ads on ITV last season. Previously the ad break would generally, conveniently coincide with having drunk enough beer to make a trip to the loo in order.
In other European countries, they run the GP in a small 'box' in a corner of the screen whilst the ads play - effectively giving continual coverage - which is a reasonable compromise.
