Reading this board breeds anti-motorist paranoia..

I looked out my window a few minutes ago - no gatsos..

Drove 40 miles to work.. no gatsos

Drove from Basingstoke to Brighton via country lanes - very fast - no gatsos..

I drive much faster than most people.. haven't been pulled, gunned, flashed or prosecuted in years.. (touch wood )

Where is all this 5h1t happening???

Live in South Wales. License to print money here. At least 3 mobile speed camera units and last years supply of Gatso dotted around the place. Cardiff has more than I have seen in a lot of places. One road out (Cowbridge Road West) has something like 4 camera's in just over a mile.
Thier web site lists 10 detection officers. Have a butchers at this www.south-wales.police.uk/speedcameras/index.htm

Certain local authorities seem more enamoured with speed cameras than other.

Staffs have quite a lot - very few in areas where IMHO they really benefit the pyblic. On ring roads of residential estates - used like speedways - I'm sure they'd be useful, but never see many, other than on open roads.

Anyway, my best advice is if you're travelling outside your normal turf, proceed with caution!

Come to Essex if you want to see cameras.

Or venture into London. It isn't paranoia, you are either;-

a) lucky they haven't done your bit yet
b) not observant enough
c) going to get a nasty letter very soon !!

Paranoid? us? nooooooo.

There are some good things you can do with Gatso's (other than shove them up the Transport Secretary's exit hole).

My local Land Rover dealer was visited by some irate plods one day. They showed him Gatso photo of a Landrover 90 - which was travelling at some 80mph in a 40 zone - one guy with one foot on the tow hook and one foot inside the back door (a mate in the back of the Landie holding onto his belt) with his coat 'Matador style' accross the number plate.

Can't condone this sort of behaviour!
