Last night i got a producer for not showing my rear no. plate. the reason? it fell of at about 11pm so i put the plate on my parcel shelf as there was not any shops open to buy any sticy pads.

What i don't under stand is why i got a producer for something like that, don't the the plod trust anyone any more? (BTW i also got a producer for Having wing mirrors with a blue tint and having bald tyres even though i came out of the garage with a new set of tyres i showed them the receipt but they still told me to go to cop shop!)

Does having a lot of producers effect any thing?

Sounds like plod was bored, especially with the "wing mirrors with a blue tint" - Audis seem to have these as standard now.

I had a producer about a year ago, just put my car back on the road after a short layup (had a SORN) but not got round to purchasing my new disk.
But they only wanted to see drivers licence, MOT and insurance they did not check if I had purchased a tax disk I assume this would be the same with your numberplate did they check that it was fixed?

Seems fairy muff to me. A few years ago I had a rear plate on the bike break off and leave just a small ali bracket about 3" x 1" so decided that as it realy had snapped off I wrote the number on my new postage stamp in marker pen and carried on for several weeks with cover story about "how it had just happened officer and I borrowed a marker pen at the last services etc" when I eventually got tugged and given a producer after several weeks I got off the nicking as I had made the best effort to sort it out but still got the producer. If I hadn't got that I'd probable still be riding round like it. The moral is I guess you got it it because of tossers like me

Oh yes there's a bit on the back of the producer saying rectification required that has to be stamped by an mot test centre and costs a few quid to get done.

This is exactly what happened. they took my licence/MOT/insurence cover note and disappeared for 25 minutes. when they came back they just told me i could go, did not even check if i had putthe plate on (which i did) what a waste of time!
