Sorry if this is a repost, but I came accross this rather odd ebay listing on another forum that I use:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/38-cars-bikes-quads-truck-bu...

Someone 'apparently' selling 38 vehicles in a job lot, including cars, motorbikes, a truck and I think even a speedboat was mentioned. It's all very strange and I assume it's some sort of scam, and his reason for selling them is rather odd as well: 'please note these are not all my vehicles, i have gathered together many friends to sell all these vehicles ,bikes ,quads, trike, truck, transporter tilt trailer, speed boat, cars as we are all going to club together to buy a plot of land with the proceeds of the sale.'
It also mentions that he wants £300 in advance from the winning bidder, so I'm assuming that's where the scam is.

Its not a winning bid he needs, what he needs is a scrap yard for that load of old toot, all except the Honda Accord Touring have something wrong with them.

Went through the listing a bit more thoroughly, see what you mean, they are all heaps from the sound of it. I suppose if it was a scam he wouldn't list them all as bangers like he has done

Did he arrive at his starting price by just dragging his finger across the keyboard?

Agreed, but not many of them are worth less than '£894.19' as he points out.

Must be dodgy but does get my thoughts racing - my Stag Do's in Newcastle next weekend so I could enlist my mates to drive one each back home on the Sunday!

Hmm, where would I put them all though? (Oh yeah, and where's the money coming from?!)

Ha! I've only just noticed his sequential numbering in the starting price.

My first thought is pikeys when I see the bit about 'grouping together to buy a plot of land'.

How many of them are nicked?!

I'm going to withhold judgement on that one for now... the 100% positive feedback, reg numbers all listed, and decent enough spelling and punctuation makes it look far more legit than many typical listings rolleyes

ETA: I think a lot of them may have been acquired on the cheap from auctions, after being seized by authorities etc...

I thought you were joking about the picture. Doesnt fill you with much condifence! I was looking for the usual "dont click ask seller a question because my email account isnt working so ring me on my mobile instead" but not seen anything like that yet. Very odd.

Maybe they are buying the plot of land so they can practice tarmacing it for a future pikey business venture

Good point, a lot of the repo's that go through my local auctions are that sort of thing - e.g. the Golf on fake A8 rims, the knackered Scooby's . . .

The fact that there's a recovery truck too.

Someone suggested the pikey theory in the other forum I was on, it does make sense. Why else would a group of people club together to buy a plot of land... unless its a cult setting up a compound or something biggrin

Viewing on your own in a decent motor; probably not recommended...

I'm not that mad! I was just curious to see what his response would be, I have no intention of heading over there

Has anyone noticed all the cars in the list are pretty old? I spotted only one registered on a current style registration plate, the rest are all W plate and older..
