What is the worst day you have had

Hello every one, I haven’t posted for a while now but
I am back in force and as good as ever.
I see there are a lot of new members, which is a grate thing and I say hello to you all if you don't already know me.
Well my Question is; What is the worst day you have had in the last few months?
Mine is, I was made redundant on Tuesday after noon
and my redundancy started on the Wednesday 
, a bit of a bummer but that is life and I fell better by telling like minded friends on this forum.
So what was you worse day to date
P.S. Is there any jobs going

Campbell, good to see you back. Sounds a real pain, but always look on the bright side, something will come along, hopefully better and sooner rather than later.
For me a 'black' day was last January 17th, I too was made redundant with immediate effect. In my case just one month's pay. I had a one month old baby, my wife's company had just gone bust so she could not go back to work, I had just bought a brand new car and was part way through a major renovation on the house.
The bright side was I got to spend the next five months with my little boy (my first child, I was 41 at the time) and he is now very much a Daddy's boy, it's a great feeling. I am now back at work (at the same place!!!) and planning to complete the house renovatoin this year. The car is gone (stolen last December) but I still have my son, he's an

Sorry to hear the news - unfortuantely the R word is cropping up with alarming regularity at the moment.
My worst day, was en-route from Stafford to Gatwick, on my way to the F1 G.P. at Imola ('96 or '97 I think). Will briefly list the disasters:
1. Got stuck on M6 southbound, north of jct 10 as m'way was cloed due to IRA bomb scare.
2. Heard loud thud and assumed car behind had rolled into us - this turned out, in fact, to be the first bomb blast.
3. Was virtually adjacent ot second blast (either the IRA deliberately wanted to blow up the queue on the m'way by dis-informing the police, or there was some mix up). Fortunately no-one was hurt.
4. Making up for lost time on the M40, in the rain, a low loader dropped a 6 ft sleeper into the outside lane, in front of us, which we narrowly missed, thanks to the moron in the middle lane - who we were overtaking when I spotted the debris - trying brake as well, nearly preventing us from dropping being him.
5. Arrived at Gatwick parking (all details of trip were sorted for me by travel agent - will check all tickets in future) to find the tickets were for Heathrow.
We arrived within minutes of the plane leaving, and fortunately suffered no further disasters.

almost the very same as you by the sounds of it mate.
made redundant last September and had to watch as my beloved Cerbera was driven away the following weekend.
I thought that was the worst thing ever until I sat watching those
flying planes into the WTC.
To cap it all one of our closest friends died just before Christmas.
What a Year!!
I have found another job but I don't know how long it will last. What I will say is the one thing I learnt from last year is to live life to the full and enjoy every minute. There is DEFINATLEY someone out there in deeper sh*t than we are!!!

Me too for the 'redundent' pile, fortunatly the company I work for is very touchy feely about these sort of things and I am still there until March, but we have a job centre on site to help relocate us all! (They have made quite a few people redundent.)
I'm still very miffed at the route they have taken to select people though, we have all been scored against various headings, and I have evidence I should have scored higher, I don't really want the job back, but would interested to hear from anyone with experiance in employment law as to unfair dismisal cases.
Maybe a Tamora sooner than I thought!

Sorry to hear that Campbell. For what its worth, first time it happened to me it was like being kicked in the bollocks. Whole department axed. Second time it happened (again, the whole dept) it was less of a problem as I had been through it before, and seen me and most of my colleagues getting jobs elsewhere within a few months. It's not all bad. You'll have more experience under your belt than when you were last looking for work; that's to your advantage. Can be an opportunity to reassess what you want to do (I've never really done that kind of thinking while I've been working coz I get caught up in the day to day crap, and don't look at the bigger picture ... redundacy forced me to sort things out a bit in my own mind). If you need a good employment lawyer for advice mate, drop me mail. My wife is Legal secretary for a top Employment Lawyer in London and he will be able to help.
It may cost a couple of quid (or bugger all if I can swing it!) but bear in mind that when this happened to my wife a few years ago she paid a similar Lawyer £200 and he got her an additional £12,000 on top of the £4,000 they originally offered!!
Many firms don't always follow the law in these things and you can hugely benefit from proper legal advice.
P.S. Honestly not trying to drum up custom for the guy, just trying to help...
Thanks guys for all you have said, when I was told I was to be made redundant, there was 12 of us to go and the compamy did hire 54 people.
My skils are in the field of computers, my old title was Network Technicion. I can build machines and install all sorts of sofware on them, I can install Cat 5 networks with servers and also I can Install digital telephone systems ans I also have a HND in Electronic Engineering.
But im back and im not that down harted and you will be hearing more from me in time to come, but at the moment im enjoying some time of from driving a lond distance to work and back, in in 2 1/4 years or work I have clocked over 100,000 miles, not that bad I think
