Ok...so I don't own a Porsche, have never owned a porsche, and never intend to own a porsche (cos personally I dont like the way ANY of them look), but a friend sent this site to me - and iot is kinda amusing! If the people who work here are erally like the site then it would be a damn good place to buy a secondhand car! www.911virgin.com

I liked the bit:
quote:

I want to part exchange two donkeys and a pot bellied pig.

We bravely shoulder the heavy burden of part exchanges!

It really is a good site - an example to the traders who do dreadfully badly.

Thanks Nightmare!

Errr, so I take it none of you have actually met Henry then!

Some of his cars are a bit ropey in the flesh and he's not very generous re part ex's etc. (what dealer is?). He can also be a bit patronising sometimes. However, I have to say his website is superb, and it gets updated as quickly as Ceefax.

Good on you Henry!

PS Nightmare, give me an email at dcolbeck@draftuk.com if you get a chance. Need a quick chat off list. Cheers.

Hmmm. I hope their mechanical knowledge is sounder than their geography:

"The M23 and M11 are 20 minutes away" [from Uxbridge]

(unless of course trade plates are immune to speed cameras?).

And they have the cheek to call a seller "you lying bastard."

Henry's fairly honest about the ropeyness of his cars though Dom, more than you can say of the ------- who sold me the 2.2. Don't go expecting to be flattered by him though, the attitude being very much -here's the car, here's what's right with it and what's not, here are the keys if you want it when you get back this is what it will cost, if not then bugger off. Quite refreshing really !
A word of caution-he's currently got a 964 which has had the rear spoiler removed, but not the front. Not a good idea, unless you're never going to exceed 60, it seriously upsets the aerodynamics.

You are right, Jon.

I like Henry's honesty, too, as far as descriptions go. He's a little more guarded on what things are worth, but hey, he is a businessman...

Interesting what you say re the 964 - never thought the rear spoiler did much myself - the electric ones almost feel like they'd wobble a bit when up... I wouldn't like to sit on it, but then I suppose it is only there to disrupt the airflow.

Hey guys, Speed Here,
the 964 cars need the electric spoiler for cool air to be sucked out of the engine bay. With the lower engine panel installed ,it works very well while driving. Now in america most porsche people and porsche north america { andial } recomend removing the lower panel because in stop and go traffic with hot climate ,their is excessive wear on the valve guides. I removed the panel on my car at 50k miles when I brought my car and the car runs very cool. My 964 RS comes with a carrera tail, not the electric one and you can feel the down force above 45mph. Now with my spoiler, the air hits the thing and some goes down into the engine bay and out the bottom taking the heat away. I did alot of reading before I brought my car and I've been a 911 fan since birth. Their is a saying I've heard about porsches and it says that,{ the best porsche is the one in your garage.} enjoy, speed out.
