What is it with Biddies in Metros????
Discussion
I am f**kin pissed off. Why are f**kin Metro/Rover 100 driving Grannys allowed on the road. A couple of weeks ago I was following one doing twenty five in a 60, braking at every turn and four feet from the verge so i couldn't overtake. Then the road changed to a 30 and the bint slowed to 15!! slowing down even more for the speed bumps that u can put your wheels either side of at 30mph. Needless to say I was gettin annoyed so I started to overtake. As i got level she saw I was there and tried to block me so I had to swerve to avoid crashing.
Then last night I got stuck behind another one. 25-30 in a 60. as the road opened out I overtook, no problem but the stupid cow then moved over to the middle to stop the rest of the queue of traffic behind from going past. Ahhhh!! That kind of selfish irresponsible driving really pisses me off.
Sorry, rant over.

As I've said a thousand times but no-one over the age of forty agrees; Driving too slowly is more dangerous than driving too fast. 10 mph under the speed limit causes other drivers to overtake on roads which are unsuitable for overtaking just to get past the old senile man in a flat cap and his Rover 100/Micra/every other small crappy cheap car. Lethal. Ban them quick!
I'm over 40 and agree, driving too slowly is dangerous, unfortunately they have the choice to drive at that speed if they want, what I do find irritating beyond belief is when someone latches on to their bumper thus making it even more of a problem to pass. I would venture that, if someone feels their reactions or abilities are not up to driving at a realistic speed then they are not safe to be on public roads
nah, sorry Ted, but I agree with matey. It IS INTOLERABLE !!!
We have so many restrictions on our speed now, that to be obstructed by some fcuk-wit is obscene. If you can't keep up a decent speed, keep off the road! I feel very strongly that it is YOUR duty to raise the 85th percentile whenever possible.
If my cheapo budget smart car can nip along at 70-80 on an NSL road, then a bloody Metro ought to be able to manage 60.
Actually 70-80 in the Smart car *feels* like 100 in my 206, or about 150 on a bike!!
Sorry to rant, but you're the only bunch of people with who I share the need to speed, without feeling like a criminal.

Thing is (and I'm not pointing finger at anyone here, obviously, I hope), those that *can't* overtake said speed-limit-minus-fifteen driver safely don't deserve to be on the road either.
Wait patiently for a safe place to overtake, and stay in one piece. It's not hard. Really it isn't. Even *I* can manage it, and friends think I'm short of patience.

Get a grip. So getting impatient and crashing your car is someone else's fault?
Whilst I hate the innappropriate use of slowness, I'm not about to blame someone else if I lose it overtaking them.
I can't argue with that. Everyone is responsible for his/her own actions at the end of the day.
Volovos with those funny fish symbol stickers on - they drive erratically too.
The most annoying trait I've observed is people who drive 40-45mph in a 60 limit - OK so that's safe (a bit slow) - but on entering a 30mph, buit up area, carry on at the same pace. Mono-speed morons!!!

I have to say tho, these people think they own the road, I had an experience in cambridgeshire in August, I was overtaking an old woman in a Fiesta, Bright sunny day, no traffic, sunday afternoon bout 3ish, Road was clear so i pulled out and overtook, got halfway past and she saw me, she then tried to push off the side of the road and physically shoved her car in front of me! Don't know why, couldn't understand it, but what are we supposed to do when they do things like that?? I was really pissed off when she turned into the pub in the next village!!!
To try and clear things up a bit, my original post was meant to imply how annoyed I was that they delibratley tried to block myself and the people behind me from overtaking. BTW I wasn't tailgating them or trying to intimidate them. I doubt they even knew I was there. "Mirrors are for make-up and hair styling don't you know?". Also the overtakes were in safe places with good visability.
Also according to the highway code they should move over and perhaps slow down to allow faster moving traffic behind to get past.
People have the right to drive slowly as long as they respect the right of others to drive at a more reasonable speed. I'm not talking TVR pace either, I drive a 1.1 Fiesta which can not under any circumstances be described as fast.

I agree that people need to be patient for overtaking. However I also believe that someone driving too slowly for the road and conditions should be done for dangerous driving.
The worst case of this I have seen was on a country road where a queue of traffic was following a tractor. I joind the queue and thought nothing of it until I notice the tractor overtaking a metro. The reason for the horedous queue was an old dear doing 15mph on a national speed limit road.
That must class as something for inconsiderate driving and a danger to other users. The IAM can fail you if you do not make "sufficient progress"
BTW the over 40 remake is utter B*ll*cks my father (very good driver) is over 60 drives a Hyundai Coupe and rides a BMW K1000. Nothing wrong with his observation and speed on roads. He knows his limits and rides/drives accordingly. My experience with old drivers is that it is consideration for others and most important observation skills that make a good driver.

I think someone may be a bit sensitive about their age. But i did mean in the real world and not within these excellent forums, where i would expect nobody drives like an old lady. V.Slow drivers - the sort of people who watch Coronation Street and think it's good.
Kooperkid,
I won't make any sweeping judgements about you as you have not completed your profile or given your age, experience or the car you drive. However you are obviously more advanced than me as you can use more parts of your anatomy to talk. Congratulations.
