GB Stickers?

If you drive your car abroad, do we have to display a GB sticker on your car even when back in the UK or is it optional. I just saw some nice looking cars at the Virginia Waters meet with big white GB stickers stuck on the back and I thought they ruined the look of the car.

if you have blue stripe eu plates you don't need a sticker. to be honest that's what id'd do if i were always channel hopping.

i guess the reason people leave them on is because they know they'll be going backwards and forwards..

Linus, I hate GB stickers too (I have one on an old Aston because it looks good, other than that, no). In roughly 20 years of driving in France in a variety of rude cars, I have never had a GB plate or a GB or Euro number plate on any car. Never been stopped for that but stopped countless times for speeding and the GB issue has never been mentioned.

I'd say don't bother with it.

I've got the GB Euro thing on the end of my plates, but they are not recognised Switzerland because they are not part of the EU. When I drove through Switzerland last month even the noritously picky Swiss didn't care either...

I believe it is a legal requirement - however I've never seen it enforced.

True, but they only cost a couple of quid for the magnetic GB stickers, easily removable.. so whats the downside?

I thought GB stickers were phased out last summer in favour of plastic 'Ingerlund' flags to stick on the top of your car windows?

i think you are getting confused with the rule introduced to allow scaffolding lorries to make any movement they desire without signalling so long as the in-ger-lund flad is displayed on each window with an extra one tied to the back..

A GB sticker or Euro plates are legal requirements in the EU. GB is a legal requirement in non EU countries, including Switzerland.

try using two, one inside and the other outside - say of the boot, should hold 'em together! if your plastic bits arent too thick .. ai ai!

Halfords and other vendors do stick on GB stickers
for about £1.50 for those of us who travel by car to
outside the EU.

I think CH is the nearest, maybe Ukraine after that ?

Norway, the Kaliningrad Russian enclave, Bosnia Hercegovina or Morroco would be nearer. Iceland maybe i suppose but you'd hardly take your car

I use the chrome-plated GB letters. Look much nicer on classics. They're stick-on, but not easily removable. You can get bolt-on ones too.

Been on through the tunnel a few times and did notice the lack on GB's. Check out the Lexus and Audi in front of me.

As of today GB stickers are no longer valid and we need to be using the new 'UK' designation instead,

GB number plate sticker no longer valid abroad.




My first thought when I see the above is 'Ukraine...?'
