I think the Calibra was one of the first "normal" cars to get six speeds, but I guess super cars would have had them long before?

Did the Audi 100 2.5 TDi have it before the Calibra? Our old L-reg did.

My TR2 had a six speed gear box when built in the early 50s. 4 Speed + od on 3rd and top. Such configurations were commonplace.

Colt made cars with 8 speeds, dual range four speed.

I've a sneeking feeling I can find a six speeder from the 30s, give me a little time...

Looking at the other stuff though I suspect the Ford isn't on its original mechanical bits.
