For non fiction I tend to find I enjoy books that are on quite obscure subjects that I didnt previously know anything about.
Two recent ones ive recently enjoyed. One was called Imperial Mud which was a brief history of those living in the fens on common land before it was carved up into private ownership and drained which almost led to a civil war. The other was called Estuary and was about the Thames estuary - each chapter was a different story of a person or aspect of history. Some of it was fascinating.
Both were quite easy to read and not too dry or heavy going.
