Book recommendations - history of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe

We are heading to Southern Africa (Zim, Zambia, Botswana) for a family holiday this Christmas and I'd love to do some background reading on the history of the area before we go.

Are there any suggestions from the floor?

Edited to say - I'm interested in the political/social history as well as the military aspect.
