I read a lot of his books as a teenager, often pretty misogynist and racist in retrospect but generally entertaining. His later ones were a bit hit and miss. "The eye of the tiger" is probably my favourite.

Some absolutely cracking novels, although the later ones began to decline in quality imo. River God is incredible, and the early Courtney series are yarns you can get properly lost in.
Oh, that's sad news. I also read a lot of his earlier stuff and although I don't like stuff set in any kind of historical times, I did enjoy his "Courtney" series.
