Yes really sad. Asterix cartoons were a big part of my childhood and I still enjoy them as an adult, as a few jokes and references went over my head as a kid eg Getafix the druid...

Such a talented guy, there was always something interesting going on in the background of each frame and the attention to detail was quite extraordinary.

If you’ve never had the pleasure, Asterix and Cleopatra and Asterix in Britain are good places to start.
