Morning all, trying to find the new issues of Car and Evo on the app, but they seem to have gone.

Just checking it's not me and my ageing eyes that's missing them. Anyone know if they've been withdrawn?

I was reading Evo on the app on Monday - I believe it was the latest issue (there were readers letters discussing the ECOTY).

I can still see EVO. Car went along with Top Gear over Christmas. Modern Classics used to be on there too.

If they remove any more I'll probably cancel Readly as it really isn't acceptable to just ditch them (and all the previous issues). Excuses in the past have been "It doesn't meet the magazines future publishing plans" - but quite simply they have lost a reader as this is now my preferred format and I wont be buying the paper issue.

EVO is definitely there - it's not in alphabetical order though - right at bottom with What Car and Ramp

Readly are sneaky - they do drop mags on the quiet every now and then.

However as you can cancel/rejoin your contract as often as you want, i tend to only subscribe when going on holiday or business travel (Iong flights etc).
Between trips, i cancel, then load up iPad and IPhone with content for the holiday, and cancel on my return.

Guess i only pay about 3-4 times a year?

There is an overwhelming amount of content - I keep thinking I might be better off cancelling Readly and spending the same money on a couple of subs to physical magazines and actually taking my time reading them from cover to cover rather than flicking through 10-20 different virtual mags.

yes I'm surprised the magazines are OK with this - it's hard to see how they make any money out of it.

It's great for me because I was subscribing to magazines and not getting a chance to read them. Also it lets you flick through magazines that you wouldn't necessarily buy.

It won’t be `Readly dropping the magazines, it will be the other way round. The magazines get very little out of it except for being able to quote a higher circulation to advertisers.

I'm a big fan of Readly. I've had my sub a year or so now and have no plans to cancel. It's an absolute bargain, even more so when you consider the sub includes up to 5 users across 5 devices so it's a family membership, effectively.

Every magazine we would normally buy is on there, and you get some really good "one off" stuff as well both automotive and non. There was a good publication on the rise and fall of coal mining of all things which I read from (virtual) cover to cover.

The app itself is brilliant as well. Slick and easy to navigate and use, and with a handy ability to download and save issues to the device for offline reading is really handy when travelling.

One of the standout apps and services in recent years, IMO.

A note for anyone looking at Readly - it's going up to £9.99 a month shortly. They also say they've added over 1400 new titles in the last year.

Doesn't mention what they've had to remove but I assume the overall numbers of what's on there is up.

Still worth a tenner a month to me - that's still literally less than 2 magazines.

Car and Evo magazines are both available on the Libby app at a price of £0/month with a library card (also free!)

(There’s also Press Reader and Borrowbox for magazines and ebooks / audiobooks respectively)

Not all libraries support all these apps but I think most include Libby these days.

It might be worth digging out the old library card…

Just had an email from Readly indicating they've added podcasts to the app. Seems to be podcasts from selected publications, rather than a full on podcast service.

I’m finding there are more magazines on Readly but a lot less of the ones I want than there seemed to be.
I can see me looking into the library Ap mentioned soon.
