I'm looking for a book about the history of London gentlemen's clubs, Reform, RAC etc, having just re-read my Jeeves collection. I thought a book about the history of these clubs might be an interesting read, the founders, architecture etc. Apart from one picture book on amazon, there doesn't seem to be that much around, did any one know of a good book similar to what I'm describing

I have several such books
Look on eBay/ abebooks rather than amazon as most will now be secondhand

Another option is to search Google books

If you have no further luck I can have a look on the shelves when I am back in a couple of weeks

Anthony Lejeune’s book, The Gentlemen’s Clubs of London, gives a very good overview of the history and the evolution of the serious London clubs. It may be one of the picture/coffee table books you mentioned in your original post, but the text is also pretty substantial, and enjoyably written.

In many ways it demonstrates the allure, and the satisfaction, of said places.
