Amazon audiobooks question

Looking to get a few audiobooks from amazon, can anyone with experience tell me how it works? Do you get a folder download containing mp3 files for each chapter, or is it one massive audio file, or what?

Easy enough to put onto my phone and play that way? Clearly, if it's not broken into chapters, it could be a bit tricky finding where you left off!

Looks like an app....so assume each chapter is a separate "track"? Does it require internet access, or are books pre-downloaded?

Each book tends to be 1 download so not split but you can resume where you left off even you use multiple devices
