Trying to remember a book that would have been around mid-late 90s.

A person gets hired to hack into a military aircraft supplier and steal their new ai / situational awareness system, then muck up their manufacturing systems.

Turns out to be a competing company seeking to reverse engineer the system. The hacker has the obligatory helper he's never met, who only ever has an online presence and insists it'll be traced to a banana stand somewhere.

computer system being stolen / reverse engineered might have been called swoop?

Sounds like "The Fool''s Run" by John Sandford

Kidd the anti-hero/hacker/burglar gets told that the Aviation company is being ripped off by a competitor and hired to fight back

Good story dude

On nothing more than the post above, I thought ‘why not’ and got it off Amazon 2nd hand. Quite enjoyed it. Although it predates Joseph Finder’s Paranoia, as I read that first, could see similarities. (inspiration maybe?)

Anyhoo, Thanks!
