Hi I have some first edition books that I might sell for the right price.

But how ? Are there any dealers/websites that can be recommended ?

To put this into context, books covering things like varying classic films- not sure these are worth a fortune really.

but also 1st edition Bond, with dust jackets. Now these would seem to be worth £1000 each, maybe more/less.

Also an atlas from 1807.

The prices you might see on the internet aren't necessarily what books are worth (if they sell for that price, then I guess they would be, of course). And they need to be in good condition of course. A first edition with a DJ is worth more without the price snipped off, for example.

It is difficult. I've not contacted any yet but I did look at a few specialists (mostly based in London) with a view to asking for valuations but I've read stories of some of these places offering low prices when contacted - and had other priorities really so not done anything about it yet.

You could try ebay, to test the water and see what happens. Or, you could contact some related sites - eg there are websites that detail James Bond editions and discuss them - they might be a good first contact.

W & H Peacock Auctioneers in Bedford have three or four book sales a year and valuation days as well. They sell the kind of thing you have. No doubt there would be similar auction houses closer to where you are.
