Would this work, or would it be against PH rules?
I have books here that whilst i've read and enjoyed I will never read them again. I'm willing to pass them on to fellow PHers for the price of the basic postage only.
What do you think?

It's a good idea, but I think that as soon as any money changes hand you might run into an issue. Worst-case scenario is someone wants a book, sends you the postage, the book doesn't arrive, person wants their postage back. So you've either got to make it recorded delivery at higher cost, or have everyone agreeing that they won't pursue a missing book if you can show proof of posting, or refund the postage leaving you out of pocket. That requires everyone to be reasonable, and for the most part that'll work just fine, until it doesn't.

Perhaps I'm just being a bit negative, on any forum site though it's sometimes amazing how quickly a simple comment that doesn't involve money can escalate.

It might work if you only have a few and they are particulary niche.

Give them to you local library. If everybody did this with their unwanted books we might return to the days when local libaries actaully have books worth borrowing.

Funding for new stock has been heavily cut, so give them first refusal as a proper librarian will advise of the best thing to do if they don't want them.

Failing that, maybe you have a charity bookshop nearby? They're always after donations. Even a lot of National Trust properties have used book shops now (only consider that if you're a member though - bit expensive to get in and donate otherwise hehe
