I have to design a crankshaft and unfortunately I don't know how. Could anyone point me in the direction of a book/journal with a step-by-step guide of the calculations that are required. Thanks in advance!

What is the crankshaft for? Is it a very high revving V16 Formula 1 engine, it a one-cylinder lawn mower engine? Or is it not automotive related at all?

It is for a single cylinder diesel engine with a low rpm range (1000-1500). I was assuming that the method would be similar regardless of application. Maybe I know even less than I think I do. biggrin

Try looking our for Marine Medium Speed diesels. Pounders Marine Diesels is very good for designs and fabrication. Although the design is bigger than you're after, the principles the same.
