I read a lot of history, probably more than one book a month. I am highly critical of any errors or unevidenced supposition. My wife is always saying: 'Why did you buy it, then?' when I point out errors.

However, The Sleepwalkers http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Sleepwalkers-Europe-We... is one of the best non-fiction history books, certainly on WWI, that I have ever read.

I've only got a hundred pages or so into it, but there's so much that is entirely new to me. I always thought I knew a fair bit about the causes of the war, but I was wrong.

Lots of explanations as to current situations in places like the Balkans.

If you are into the period, I can'r recommend it enough. Oh! wrong again; I can. It is a must read.

It was worth the cost for the amount I've read - on offer in Waterstones - and there's still another 600 pages to go.
