I have just finished reading it. I guess some spoiler tags might be good.

I'm not 100% convinced it was written before To Kill a Mockingbird. The underlying theme of the book (apart from the racism) just seems a bit too neat to have written it before the "first" book.

I've fixed mine, but you've spolied it.

Is it worth a read? should I take To kill a mocking bird first?
I alas have only seen the film but found it utterly riveting.

Listening to the abridged version on Book at Bedtime.

Apart from keeping falling asleep and having to catch up on iPlayer the next morning, I was a bit "meh" for the first couple of episodes, but it's warmed up nicely.... So much so that I will definitely be picking up the full fat version later on.

Well read on the Beeb too, so worth a taster while it's available for download....
