I'm now having to spend more and more time driving day to day with work. I get bored with more of the radio stations and was after some ideas for a few good podcast an audio books to listen to. Anyone have any general recommendations?

I am in the same boat. My commute is 45-60 mins and radio fries my brain.

For podcasts I subscribe to This American Life, Mayo & Kermode Movies, Freakonomics, NPR Car Talk, Dr Karl on Triple J, Radio 4 Friday Comedy and a few others.

Similar situation (though I've found myself having to alleviate boredom for the day rather than a couple of hours)

I've been listening to Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre podcast, and Steven King's The Dark Tower on audiobook. The Infinite Monkey Cage podcast is fairly decent too.

With Le Mans coming up, the Motor Sport podcasts with ex Stig - Perry McArthy, David Brabham and a very fine interview with Derek Bill have put me in the mood....oh and Murray Walker was interesting and had some contraversial views to make.

All worth a listen.

Never tried audio books but the Radio 4 Friday Night Comedy podcast is a good start, usually the News Quiz or The Now Show

If you're in to sciencey stuff then some of my favourites are:
- The Life Scientific, Jim Alkelili interviews someone interesting
- Little Atoms, interviews with authors about science related books.
- The Infinite Monkey Cage, panel/discussion show hosted by Robin Ince and Brian Cox, mix of funny and interesting stuff.

5 Live Science with Dr Karl and The Naked Scientists' podcasts are usually pretty good.
